Vineyard Run in Calistoga, Napa Valley

On our first morning in Calistoga, before our scheduled mud baths and massages (best EVER by the way) at Golden Haven Spa, Funk and I went for one of the best runs of our lives. Not because we ran particularly fast (though I had to just to keep up with Funk) but because there was something about the clean Napa air, mountains in the background, hot air balloon floating above, sleepy-town feel, and being on vacation that just made this run RIGHT.

Oh, and running through a wine vineyard didn't hurt either. Along the Silverado Trail we forked off the road into a vineyard and helped ourselves to some divine grapes, right off the vine! Strictly for glucose purposes and energy on the run, right? If I had runs this good in the streets of Boston, I think I could handle a marathon. No Gu or Gatorade for me please - I'll take a bunch of Chardonnay and Merlot grapes as I tackle a long run anyday.

Probably one of my favorite life moments was when I went running in Calistoga, first with a friend who brought me there, then when I went back with Tim. Isn't it just divine? We did the mud baths and mineral spas at Calistoga day spa...

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! :-)

Gorgeous photo! I recently went to visit friends in Monterey, Calif., and declared the whole region (including wine country) "runners' paradise." Too pretty and perfect for words!
